Giveaway for Memo’s from the Master’s Desk Signed Book

I am so excited and proud to be hosting a Giveaway of
my younger brothers’ book: Memos from the Master’s Desk.

Book Description: Written sometimes causally and other times forcefully, yet uniquely blended together, Memos from the Master's Desk is comprised of forty readings, all inspired to shake and stir up the spirit within.  Author Byron Washington does not hold back, but uses examples from his personal life, the lives of those around him, and world events to paint a very real picture of the trials faced by Christians.  A memo from the Master’s Desk is a paradigm of spiritual truth, the power of God, and preparation needed for great exploits in the kingdom of God.  Sit at Washington's feet as he presents Memos from the Master's Desk.

About the Author:  Byron Washington holds a Master’s degree in public affairs with a concentration in international relations for the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Affairs at Princeton University.  He is also a graduate of Winston-Salem State University. Through academic, ministerial and professional opportunities, Washington has traveled to over twenty countries and numerous islands in the Caribbean. Washington severs on the boar of elders at The Embassy Church International in Greensboro, North Carolina.

His weekly Spiritual Memos reach hundreds around the world,
helping to shape their lives into the image of Christ Jesus.

Interview with Byron Washington:
When and why did you begin writing?
Honestly, I started writing when I was like in elementary school.  We had this "publishing center" and we could write these short stories (mine were always about cars) and they would publish them.  We could draw our own pictures and stuff.  It was pretty cool.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I really considered myself a writer, when I received my book contract and they sent me the first copy of my book.  I was like wow, I really am an author.
What inspired you to write your first book?
People kept telling me I should take my inspirational emails that I send out weekly and compile them into a book.  I eventually gave into the pressure and pursued a publishing contract.

How did you come up with the title?
I sort of highlight this in the introduction to the book.  I was sitting at the desk in my hotel room in New York City, and the title just came to me.  The rest of book, the layout and all of that, I outlined the next day on my train ride back home.
Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp?
The power of prayer.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
A mixture, but 95% of them are based on my life.
What books have most influenced your life most?
The Bible, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Communicating for Change, Up From Slavery, This Present Darkness, If you Give a Mouse a Cookie (I’m serious!)
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
John Maxwell
What book are you reading now?
I just finished Charles Dickens: Great Expectations.  I am trying to find what I am going to read next.
Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members.
My church
Do you see writing as a career?
I would like it to be
If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
No not really, maybe add an extra chapter, but honestly, No, there is nothing that I would change.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Not sure...good question.  It would probably depend on the reader.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
Frank Peretti, he can just paint great pictures with words and has a great way of telling a story.
Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?
I do, earlier this year I was in San Francisco, CA, which was great and I have some upcoming events in the works.
Who designed the covers?
The original cover (which is not on the book) was designed by one of my best friends, the cover that was chosen was designed by the publishing companies design team, I told them the book concepts and they created a cover.
What was the hardest part of writing your book?
Editing!
Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?
Organization is key.  I had all these different inspirational emails, but I did not have them organized.  So I am now trying to be better with organization, it makes life simpler.
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Don't put off writing, write, then do some research, but if you feel you have something, then make sure you take the time to write it.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
I hope they enjoy the book and to check out my blog at (www.byronwashington.com) where I do almost more writing that covers more areas and often provides commentary or thoughts on current events.  I would appreciate your feedback.  Thanks again and Be Blessed.
