Why should we kneel when we pray and lift our hands in praise??

Have you ever wondered as a child or even as an adult why we would kneel when we pray and why we should lift our hands in prayer? I know I did and now I have the answer and the understanding as to why this is important.

I was reading “The Battle Belongs to the Lord” by Joyce Myers and she answers this question. She states that when we are on our knees with our hands uplifted is our battle position.  It shows that we are ready and humble to hear what God has to say in order for us to get up and move forward according to his plan.
In this position we can be reverent and have surrendered ourselves to the Lord and he can recognize and see that are we are willing to listen and act according to his word.

After reading this now I can explain to my daughter why she needs to kneel in prayer at night before going to bed. Now she will have a better understanding as she grows older the importance of this position and will be more willing to prostrate herself this way as a sign of humbleness and readiness before the Lord.

Joyce reminds us that are weapons are not nature weapons and most likely not something that the world will understand. Our weapons are our Bibles and Eph 6:10-17 (NIV) talks about our Spiritual Armor that prepares us for battle. “…Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full arm our of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

We must remember that we have to learn to fight God’s way and not the way of the world.

I was so happy to have learned that this was my battle position and why I should kneel and raise my hands to sky. I am showing that I am ready to fight God’s way and that I am humbled to hear what he has to say to me. I now look at kneeling not as an inconvenience but rather as a way to be still to hear what the Lord has to say.
I was truly blessed by this chapter in the book and look forward to sharing more and blessing those that may read this post and help them to get a better understanding of the ways of the Bible and what the Lord wants from us as Christians!

Book Review: True Bucketfilling Stories: Legacies of Love

Title: True Bucketfilling Stories: Legacies of Love
By: Stacey A. Lundgren
Genre: Inspirational
Pages: 110
Purchase: Amazon
List Price: $12.95

I wanted to review this book as I was intrigued by the title and had never heard the term “bucketfilling” used this way and was curious to read what exactly the author meant. I was pleased that the introduction to the short stories in the book answered my questions.

A bucketfiller is a person who lives his or her life with a warm and caring heart. He or she may say or do nice things for other person. A bucket dipper is the opposite. The person may be rude, self-centered or in a frequently in a bad mood.

I found myself engrossed in each and every story wonder how the characters were going to be bucketfillers and not bucket dippers and how each story would end. Another great idea in this book at the “Let’s talk about it” questions at the end of each short story. They are thought provoking and really help the reader to absorb the story and the lessons that can be learned.

In addition, I found myself constantly thinking about whether I was being a bucketfiller or bucket dipper in many situations after reading this book. It made me more conscience of my words and actions towards other people. There was an incident with my ex-husband that came up after reading these stories and I will admit that prior to reading this book I would have been a bucket dipper in this situation, however; I made the choice to be a bucketfiller. It made me feel good about myself and I think it even surprised him.

I love this book because being a bucketfiller is wonderful! The stories are encouraging and inspiring and there is a lot that you can learn and take from this book and apply to your everyday life. I think that anyone that reads this book and takes to heart the message and concept of the book will feel happier and rejuvenated.

Inspirational Quote for the Day

I heard the craziest thing ever….

So there was an incident with my boyfriend and his kids a few days ago where his son slapped his sister on the arm over changing the t.v. station. Okay so  he tells his ex-wife and come to find out she has been having trouble with him as well around 6pm each night.

You wanna know what she said...she says…. It is a protein deficiency and that all he needs is some milk. SERIOUSLY!!! We are talking about an 8 year old and I don’t think milk is going to solve the problem. Maybe there is something else going on as she also admitted that he has been being mean to his sister recently. Maybe he is projecting. Maybe he is getting bullied at school. Maybe we need to drill down on his behavior because it is very uncharacteristic of him. He is an easy going manageable kid and this type of behavior is unacceptable.  Protein deficiency my a$$!

I try not to judge any parent but this is too much even for me to keep my mouth shut! This is a case of a parent sticking their head in the sand and not wanting to address any issues.  I can tell you first hand this is not the first time. If I told you some of the other things that she has not stepped up to the plate with you would be shocked. Sure I can try and give her the benefit of the doubt but that excuse she provided is absolutely ridiculous!

My poor boyfriend just shook his head and walked away.  I don’t know what this means for the future but if she is making excuses as absurd as this now, then I don’t want to know what happens when they get to be teenagers.

Okay thanks for letting me vent, but would love to know your thoughts on her comments.

Single Parenting and Finances

The definition of a budget is basically based on estimate of itemized of expected income as well as expenses for a given period in the future. Many single parents are faced with financial difficulties when they are left to take care of their own children and they do not have much income that allows them to support their family in the lifestyle that they were used to.

Well if you are a single parent and have been faced with this dilemma don’t worry you can live on the small financial income you are able to get for now by following the below steps and adhering to them strictly.

·         A Budget
Creating a budget helps you show all your sources of income, this will include job, child support, tips and even bonuses. The good thing with creating a budget is that you will now keep track of the finance coming in. so you need to gather your sources of income and list them and you will be surprised you could be making more than you claim to be making!

·         List expenditures
It is important to list down expenditures so that you ensure you know how much you are spending on a monthly basis. The expenditure will cover cash, check and also credit card charges. All you are required to do is collect all your expenditure including periodic costs that you pay either quarterly or yearly.
You should go ahead and list your expenditures on the same page carrying your sources of income, add up them up and see whether you are going to be left with a positive number.

·         Plan Formulation
This stage is where you sit down and create an action plan that will help you reduce and eliminate your debt. If your expenditure is higher than your income that is also an okay thing since now you will have the best time to create a plan that will help you achieve your quest.

·         Categories
You should categorize your list of expenditures so that you know how much money you spend on necessities. It is necessary you learn how to group your expenses by category, you should put your household items together, separate your car and various transformational modules in another category always ensure that you have a categories in savings, medical and entertainment.
After you have done so ensure that you have divided up your income across these categories and try to ensure that you never spend more money than you have in the category.

Giveaway & Book Review: Journaling with Jesus: How to Draw Closer to God

Title: Journaling with Jesus: How to Draw Closer to God
Author: Carol Round
Price: $9.95
Purchase: Amazon and Barnes & Noble
Pages: 68
Genre: Religion, Spiritual

My Summary:
I love the introduction to this book at is asks the question – “what is prayer?” Not the dictionary version by YOUR version – what does prayer mean to you? It is a powerful question and it helps you get started on your way to developing your own prayer journal.

The next chapters discuss the difference between a journal and a diary and the importance and benefits of keeping a prayer journal vs. a diary, especially when contemplating a big change, going through a particularly stressful or rough patch in life and keeping a prayer journal will start to transform your life and will assist you during those difficult times.

I found this book very helpful as I started to think about starting my own prayer journal. I have always kept diaries from the time I was a teenager but never had a journal and didn’t really even understand the difference between the two until I read this book. It provided great insight and helpful tips for my own special prayer journal. I spend my time with God in the morning and now I have a better focus on my meditation and special quiet time with the Lord. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to review this book as it renewed by strength and provided guidance and wisdom. It is a must have book for prayer journaling.

Journaling with Jesus provides great starter questions when you have writers block or to help you get started on your prayer journaling journey. The importance of journaling your prayers is to see how God has answered your prayers over time. We write to grow and not stay the same.

After reading this book, you too will want to start your own prayer journal because it encourages you to “come as you are!”

Key Quote: “By expressing your thoughts, feelings and insight on the pages of a journal, you will be surprised when you discover God in the process. In turn, He will use your journal as an instrument to transform you. Your journal will also become your way of holding yourself accountable to spiritual maturity.”

Author: Dimiri James

Purchase: Amazon

Price: $18.95

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this book and it is MUST have for all women! This is a great step by step manual for transforming from nice girl to naughty girl and not crossing over into trashy. I do believe that there is a thin line between naughty and trashy and this book shows you how not to cross that line.

I found myself laughing out line at a few of the helpful hints and some of the illustrations of naughty vs. trashy because I either know women or have seen women that don’t understand the difference and between the two and his descriptions of the distinction between the two were spot on!

This book has everything from how to be a naughty traveler, a naughty mom and how to be a naughty girl at work. James provides illustrations and great tips throughout the book to help you on your way from going from nice to naughty. If you follow his guidelines you can’t go wrong!

Favorite Quote: “She is forgettable because she doesn’t know how to market herself at home or at work. She is a Nice Girl who deserves the best, but she doesn’t know how to play up her assets, and she has a lot of competition.”
