During
hard times, especially during my divorce I would play songs that would express
what I feeling when I couldn’t. Sometimes I would dance around the house by
myself while my daughter was sleeping or I would blast my tunes when she spent
the weekend with her father.
Music
was always the thing that I could turn to when I felt there was no one else
that would understand. I could always find a song that would encapsulate
exactly how I was feeling at the time. I would cry, I would find the courage, I
could just let loose and be free that moment.
It was
a moment when nothing else matters except the rhythm, the beat and the words
that would flow from the speakers. The words would speak to me and only me.
Below are my Top 5 Songs of
Motivation, Inspiration, and Encouragement
Motivation, Inspiration, and Encouragement
5. I Will Survive- by Gloria Gaynor
This song is best played loudest. It is one of my favorite songs that got me through some very tough times during and after my divorce. When I didn’t think that I was going to make it, I just turned this up and danced around the house! Its powerful and gives great encouragement to go on even when you don’t think you can!
4. When You Believe by Whitney
Houston and Mariah Carey
This
is an amazing song about the power of hope and faith. If there are ever any
times when you’re losing hope, I would say listen to this song and just hang in
there. Things eventully will get better. The miracles you want to create in
life comes from first believing in yourself FIRST and then others.
3. Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel
Kamakawiwo'OleI
I
have always loved the wizard of Oz since I was a little girl. ( I will admit
that the witch still scares the hell out
of me every time I watch it). But the one thing I will always remember when Dorothy, sings "Over the Rainbow" after
unsuccessfully trying to get her aunt and uncle to listen to her regarding an
unpleasant incident involving her dog Toto
and the evil Miss Gulch, whom Toto bit after she struck him with a rake.
That part hit home with me as a child and it probably did for most. You could relate and understand exactly how she was feeling. You wanted to run away and find something better. And that something better just had to be over the rainbow. A place where you felt appreciated and understood, where it is just perfect! There are times now where I want to go over the Rainbow but you also realize there is “no place like home”
I have included both the original and the version by by Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole(which my daughter absolutely loves)
2. Survivor - Destiny's Child.
This song is truly inspiring and empowering from women. No matter what comes our way we will survive. The lyrics truly hit home during my divorce. The last words that my ex said to me was “you can’t do it by yourself, you need me” I would listen to this song every time those words would creep into my head and I felt that I couldn’t do it alone. Gave me the strength and encouragement and the fight to keep going!
Like my mom always
said “ you can do bad by yourself”
